Company Profile
Fidler Furniture Company
Company Overview
Fidler Furniture Company is a custom metal fabrication design shop based in Wyoming, Michigan (Grand Rapids area). For more than 30 years, we have specialized in high-end, precision metalwork, creating one-of-a-kind furniture, architectural features, sculpture, cooking hoods, stainless countertops, railings, and mixed-media pieces that combine metal with exotic woods.
Every project is fully custom. Our process is collaborative and detail-driven—from initial consultation and concept development through engineering, shop drawings, finish selection, and hand fabrication. Our craftsmen take pride in precision fabrication, refined finishes (including mirror-polished stainless, patinas, brass, bronze, and copper), and exceptional craftsmanship. We work with residential clients, interior designers, restaurants, hotels, and commercial projects across Michigan and beyond (including notable work for properties such as the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel and JW Marriott).
We are a hands-on fabrication studio that values skilled artisans who enjoy complex, high-quality work. Our team includes experienced fabricators and welders who build each piece by hand with an emphasis on accuracy, durability, and elevated design. We currently seek talented welders/fabricators (especially those with strong TIG experience) and shop support to join our team.
Located at 400 36th Street S.E., Wyoming, MI 49548.

Company History
Fidler Furniture Company was founded in February 1996 by Steven Mark Fidler. What began as a one-person operation working out of a garage in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area has grown into a respected custom metal fabrication design shop specializing in high-end furniture, architectural metalwork, sculpture, range hoods, stainless countertops, railings, and mixed-media pieces.
Steve’s earlier experience in stainless steel fabrication with Hobart Food Equipment and a partnership in commercial kitchen equipment manufacturing laid the foundation for the business. An initial focus on stainless steel occasional tables quickly evolved as interior designers requested custom countertops, cooking hoods, and other architectural elements. The company has remained under Steve’s sole ownership since its founding.
In 2016, Fidler Furniture Company moved into its current facility at 400 36th Street S.E. in Wyoming, Michigan. From this location the shop continues to produce precision, hand-fabricated work for residential, commercial, and institutional clients across the region and beyond.
Notable recent and signature projects include:
The base of the new General Motors boardroom conference table (completed in 2025)—a 25-foot by 12-foot table designed with stations for 22 people
Custom metalwork for the renovated Ford Book Depository in downtown Detroit
A custom sign featuring Jay Leno’s logo, presented to him for his garage in Burbank, California
Throughout its nearly three decades, the company has maintained a focus on collaborative design, detailed engineering, and refined craftsmanship rather than high-volume production. Today the team of skilled fabricators and welders continues the original ethos of turning metal into functional art, one unique project at a time.
