Description
Under general supervision of the Automation Manager, the Robotic Welding Technician is responsible for the operation, advanced programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of robotic welding projects. This experienced-level role works independently on complex programming and process-development work and provides technical guidance to Robotic Welding Technician I staff.
Requirements
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Independently develop and debug full robot programs, including searching functions, error handling, coordinated motion, weld path development, and PLC communication, using robot teach pendants & various 3D offline programming software.
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Develop weld parameters for new or complex customer processes and validate that weldments meet or exceed established standards.
- Service the robot weld torch and wire feeding system, including changing the torch, contact tips, gas diffusers, insulators, nozzles, drive rolls, and welding wire.
- Lead troubleshooting of complex robot and process issues, perform preventative and regular maintenance, and recommend process improvements.
- Maintain robotic weld quality and efficiency across assigned projects.
- Read and interpret weld prints, layouts, mechanical prints, and electrical schematic drawings.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to Robotic Welding Technician I and other staff.
- Assist with electrical and mechanical assembly to meet project schedules.
- Meet project schedules; provide the manager and project manager with timely status reports on projects.
- Travel as required to complete project tasks or field service assignments.
- Stay current on new developments in robotic welding and automation.
- Comply with all quality and safety regulations.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
