The geotechnical engineering program is laser focused on what lies below the ground. We are well versed in subsurface exploration and testing, soil stabilization, and groundwater monitoring.
Our environmental program is impressive and growing. We have experience in Phase I and II ESA’s, asbestos surveys, and remediation plans.
Construction materials testing and special inspections are the primary focus of our field program. Onsite observation and monitoring by our certified professionals support projects being built to the approved specifications, all of which is backed by our three AASHTO accredited laboratories.
Company History
Founded in 1992, owner Greg DeSart is proud of GES and all it has accomplished over the past three decades.
With a passion for the outdoors, geology, and an innate ability in math, Greg wasn’t sure what to major in. It was on his drive to the University of Nevada, Reno his freshman year where his dad encouraged him to explore the world of geological engineering as opposed to pursuing his original path of being a forest ranger.
Greg might tell you GES’ success is based a lot on luck, but those who know him know that passion and perseverance have made GES the success it is today. His perseverance is evident when he tells you about the summer he lived in his truck in Dog Valley riding his bike to and from work each day so he could save money and stay in Reno. His passion for geotechnical engineering was proven when he opened the GES office when he was only 28.
GES expanded in 1998 with the formation of sister company, Eagle Drilling Services, LLC (Eagle). Eagle quickly became a recognizable advantage, increasing the company’s agility, while enhancing communication between the drilling crews and our engineers.
GES continues to grow by starting to add new shareholders in 2018, opening a third office in Reno in 2019, and expanding to over 80 staff members in 2022. Today we have four locations including St. George, Utah.
One of GES’ biggest accomplishments is the dedication to being a “Best Place to Work” while delivering quality services to our clients. With passion, perseverance, and a little luck, GES continues to be successful and is looking forward to many more years of delivering quality services to our clients while being a great place to work.
