The Welder Class B is responsible for welding castings and fabrications according to specifications. This role also operates welding, cutting, pantograph, sheave-making, and other production equipment while meeting safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment.
Select the appropriate welding rod for each job.
Weld various castings and fabrications according to specifications.
Pass required tensile and code tests.
Operate pantograph, cutting, sheave-making, and other production machines as needed.
Read and understand blueprints, welding symbols, and written instructions.
Use precision tools, measuring instruments, and shop mathematics.
Complete required production paperwork.
Communicate with supervisors, inspectors, and other team members.
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years of relevant manufacturing experience.
Advanced welding experience in accordance with company progression requirements.
Ability to use shop mathematics.
Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and written specifications.
Ability to operate welding and production equipment safely.
Ability to learn and remember machine controls, measuring tools, and assembly instructions.
Additional Information
Must regularly lift between 1 and 50 pounds.
Requires standing, walking, bending, twisting, and reaching.
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to dust, smoke, and fumes.
Regular attendance is necessary to maintain production schedules.
