Welding Inspector
Description
- Assist with the development of a QC team. Provide Training for inspectors in both Welding and Coating
- Learn and understand Merrill’s Quality Manual and Procedures that are written to be in compliance with AISC 207-23 Standard for Certification and AISC 420-10 Complex Coating Standard.
- Work with all departments involved with the AISC Certification. Perform Internal Audits for compliance
- Daily Weld and Coating Inspection
- Conduct Weld Performance tests
- Monitor shop welding for compliance to Welding Procedure Specifications.
- Track nonconforming materials and errors. Communicate with Production and Quality Management.
- Issue Corrective Action when needed.
- Always focusing on continuous improvement
- Assist with customer third party inspections.
- Be the Management Representative during AISC Initial and annual audits
Requirements
- Current certification with American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
- Non Destructive Testing (NDT) certifications or experience in the Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT or MPT) methods
- Any AMPP, NACE, or SSPC is a plus.
- Structural Steel Welding and Inspection experience.
- Any experience with the American Institute for Steel Construction (AISC)
- Proficiency with shop drawings and a comprehensive understanding of weld detailing
