Job Description: RSi is looking to fill a Pipefitter position to support our NASA customer. The Pipefitter's work involves most of the following: laying out work and measuring to locate position of pipe from drawings or other written specifications, cutting various sizes of pipe to correct lengths with chisel and hammer, oxyacetylene torch or pipe-cutting machines, threading pipe with stocks and dies.

Job Duties: 

• Installs or repairs water, steam, gas or other types of pipe and pipefitting.
• Responsible for bending pipe by hand-driven or power-driven machines, assembling pipe with couplings and fastening pipe to hangers, making standard shop computations relating to pressures, flow and size of pipe required; and making standard tests to determine whether finished pipes meet specifications.

Qualifications and Experience: In general, the work of the Pipefitter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Work Environment:  Indoor and outdoor working environments. May include test areas, test stands, laboratories, chambers, machine shops, cold and hot weather environments, heights, and confined spaces. 

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):  

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and working in awkward positions to access work areas
• The use of tools associated with the position 
• Lifting up to 40 lbs
• Must use proper PPE for all tasks

Other Essential Functions (with or without reasonable accommodation):  

• Must be able to communicate with peers, supervisors and customers
• Must be able to work independently or in a team
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions

Clearance: Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issues credentials and IT access/applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.
