Description
Pile Driver / Welders
Travel: yes - Mid Atlantic States
We are currently looking for Pile Driver / Welders to join our Geotechnical Services team. Qualified candidates must have at least 1 year of related experience including knowledge of how to drive piles i.e. sheet piles, h piles, concrete piles as well as possess welding ability, stick, mig, tig and oxyacetylene welding procedures. Some knowledge of metals and proper welding procedures for such metals. Must be D1.1 or D1.5 certified. Qualified candidates must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet; also MUST be able to travel in the Mid-Atlantic area.
This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.
This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Core competencies include: design-build, infrastructure, marine construction, modified concrete, grooving and grinding, and geotechnical construction services.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred
- Welding certification is required as well as pile driving experience
- Reliable transportation and Valid Drivers License is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Essential Functions:
• Connect hoses and whip checks.
• Assist in loading and unloading of casing and drill steel.
• Understand the process of prepping wale steel
• Responsible for the alignment of drill location.
• Responsible for proper stud layout.
• Install lagging plates and Hilti bolts; know proper use of chainsaw/safety.
• Assist in assembly of strand tendons and bars, regrout pie, etc.
• Spotter for the drill and other equipment moves.
• Weld studs/misc. using proper use of cutting torch.
• Climb piling leads up to 160’ to position pile in the leads.
• Use burning torch to cut pile.
• Use tools to dig, pry, hammer and shovel.
• Carry, load, unload and stack material
Dig with picks, shovels, air hammers, jack hammers and other consturction equipment as required
• Climb embankments and ladders to get to work area.
• Hook and rig material and equipment for movement by crane.
• Measure and mark pile with tape.
• Cut concrete pile using concrete saw. Cut timber pile with chain saw.
• Record statistical data for load test and/or other related piling operations.
• Clean up project site of debris.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout work shift
- Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet
- Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift
- Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands
- Must be able to climb ladders
- Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl
- Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather
- Required to have acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing
- Required to have the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height - and the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces
