Description
Job Summary
This position involves reading blueprints, fitting or overseeing fitting, expediting parts, and welding or overseeing welding tasks. The individual will take ownership of assigned jobs to ensure they meet customer expectations and schedule requirements while upholding high standards of quality, safety, and teamwork.
Essential Functions
Read and interpret blueprints accurately.
Supervise a crew and complete jobs from start to finish with minimal supervision.
Expedite parts throughout the plant to meet production goals.
Identify and resolve obstacles related to assigned projects.
Take ownership for meeting both customer expectations and production schedules.
Model and promote principles of unity, trust, honesty, integrity, creativity, and self-reliance.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to produce uniform, clean welds that meet customer specifications.
Proficiency in reading all weld symbols on blueprints.
Ability to differentiate between various materials such as channel, angle, flat bar, square tube, and pipe.
Capable of passing basic plate weld tests (visual and bend) within required time frames in four of the five processes listed below:
F.C.A.W. – Stainless and mild steel (3G, 6G positions)
G.M.A.W. – Mild steel (3G position)
G.T.A.W. – Stainless and aluminum (3G, 6G positions)
S.A.W. – Sub arc (1G position preferred but not required)
Ability to calculate arc length, circumference, bolt circles, chord length, and flat patterns.
Strong teamwork, listening, and communication skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and maintain productivity.
Maintain an acceptable attendance and safety record.
Support a safe and positive working environment.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED preferred.
1–2 years of shop or field welding experience.
Ability to understand detailed instructions and respond effectively in all work situations.
Strong problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills under pressure.
Proficiency in mathematics, particularly trigonometry.
